Belinda Jackson, writing for the Sydney Morning Herald, reveals that the UAE state has close to 50 malls with shops that sell an array of designer names such as Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin as well as high street brands such as H&M and Debenhams.
The largest mall is the Dubai Mall, located close to the world’s tallest tower, Burj Khalifa, and has close to 1,000 outlets under its roof.
According to Ms Jackson, there are a number of must-buys for shoppers takingĀ flights to Dubaiincluding the purchase of home perfume and kanhjars – decorative Arabian knives.
Bargains can also be found by those willing to take a trip away from the centre of Dubai and head to shopping areas where the rents are cheaper. For example, Sharjah could be an ideal destination for those looking to save money on rugs, carpets and pashminas.
The Dubai Mall is open Sunday to Wednesday from 10.00 to 22.00 and 10.00 to 24.00 Thursday through to Saturday.
