The annual art fair held in Dubai drew bigger crowds and made more sales than in previous years.

Anyone who travelled to Dubai last week may have taken the  time to visit the emirate’s annual art show.

More than 18,000 people visited Art Dubai this year, a 28 per cent increase over the previous year, Reuters reported.

The four-day event featured artists from 31 countries, with 72 galleries taking part in the global fair.

One of the attendees at this year’s event Fabio Rossi, of London’s Rossi & Rossi, commented that Art Dubai is “beginning to find its voice in the global arena”.

He added that the increasing numbers of international artists and galleries exhibiting at the show could encourage more people to book flights to Dubai for next year’s event.

As well as a wide range of installations on display at Art Dubai, the organisers also host a global art forum to encourage debate and discussion about cultural issues and the development of art around the world.
