People who enjoy seeing unusual events unfold while on holiday should book flights to Perth to see the Avon Descent this summer.

Anyone who likes to seek out unusual events while on holiday should certainly consider booking flights to Perth this summer.

On August 7th and 8th the Avon Descent will take place and it has been recommended as one of Australia’s top sporting events by Austravel.com.

The Avon Descent is a race over more than 100km of the Avon River, beginning in Northam, a town to the east of Perth, and ending in the waterways of the Western Australian capital.

Competitors can use a variety of different craft, from powerboats with a ten-horsepower limit to kayaks and surf skis.

People can choose to take part as individuals or part of a team, with the two-day race a spectacle to watch for anyone who does not fancy getting wet.

All those who enter will have to get through sections containing white water rapids and waterfalls, as well as long stretches of flat water along the way.

For those who want to watch the participants cross the finishing line, the best place to head to is the Riverside Gardens at City of Bayswater.
