A performance of Handel’s Messiah could be on the agenda for people taking holidays to Sydney.
People taking flights to Sydney this weekend may like to attend a special musical event at the city’s most famous concert hall.
Handel’s Messiah is being performed at the Sydney Opera House this week as the venue looks to end 2009 on a high.
In addition, the Beginner’s Guide to Messiah will take place on the afternoon of Sunday December 13th for people who are unfamiliar with George Frideric Handel’s choral masterpiece.
According to the Opera House, this event will be “an entertaining and informational performance of Messiah excerpts”, suitable for all the family.
The Beginner’s Guide will precede a full performance of Handel’s Messiah by the Sydney Philharmonia Orchestra, Symphony Chorus and Messiah Choir at 17:00 local time.
Meanwhile, people booking flights to Australia in the new year will be able to experience the Sydney Festival, a celebration of music, dance, art and theatre which takes place from January 9th to 30th.
