People travelling on cheap flights to Australia this summer and autumn will be able to catch one of the most beautiful natural phenomena native to the Australian continent.
Every year between March and October, when a full moon rises over exposed mudflats at an exceptionally low tide, a breathtaking visual spectacle is created with what looks like a staircase leading right up to the moon.
It is an amazing optical illusion that captivates tourists and residents alike, with huge crowds gathering to share in this beautiful moment together.
It happens on Australia’s West Coast and the best viewing spots are at Karratha, Roebuck Bay, Hearson Cove and Cooke Point in Port Hedland.
There’s plenty to do before, during and after with brilliant night markets offering local delicacies and handmade gifts, and various forms of entertainment from talented artists to keep you amused.
The dates for the staircase to the moon in Karratha this month (June) are the 15th, 16th and 17th. For July the dates are 14th, 15th and 16th.
