People booking flights to Sydney will be able to enjoy world-class dining during their stay, according to a new list of the best restaurants around the globe.

Anyone who is jetting off on flights to Sydney may be pleased to learn that three of the city’s eateries featured in the S Pellegrino list of the world’s top 100 restaurants.

There was only one other Australian entry in the list from Melbourne, making Sydney the food capital of the country when it comes to fine dining.

Quay, Tetsuya’s and Marque were the three restaurants to receive the accolade.

Peter Gilmore, Tetsuya Wakuda and Mark Best are the respective head chefs at the establishments who were all recognised for their innovative cuisine and culinary styles.

All three restaurants have received awards previously, with Quay named restaurant of the year 2010 by both the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide and the Australian Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide.

Tetsuya’s and Marque have both received the highest rating for their cuisine from the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide, which has awarded both establishments three chef’s hats.
