Visitors will be able to travel around the city for free on October 28th.

Tourists booking cheap flights to Perth for October will have the chance to take advantage of a number of incentives during the Commonwealth Festival.

Western Australia’s acting commerce minister Bill Marmion revealed a number of free activities will be happening in the city’s central business district on October 28th, the first day of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

To allow locals and travellers to enjoy the various festivities, opening hours at shops across Perth will be extended until 21:00 local time on the day, while free transport will be available on the Transperth bus and train network.

More than 4,000 visitors – including world leaders, foreign ministers and business figures – are due to head to Perth in October to participate in the CHOGM, the biggest event to take place in the city for almost 50 years.

Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh will open the meeting on what will be their first trip to Western Australia for more than a decade.
