US presenter Oprah Winfrey has added an extra date to her upcoming tour of Australia.The chat show host confirmed that demand for her two shows in Sydney has meant an extra programme will be filmed in an unknown outback location.

Her production company Harpo Productions announced that tickets for the shows are currently being assigned via a “lottery process” to users of Oprah’s website who requested the chance to see the shows live.

Australia Tourism believes the special shows will play an important role in promoting the country across the world. It is expected that the three episodes will be screened in 145 countries.

Tourism minister Martin Ferguson recently confirmed that more than 3,000 tourism-related companies have bid to be linked with Oprah’s tour of Australia. It is understood that authorities paid $2.3 million (£0.8 million) to encourage the talk show host and her fans to take flights to Australia.

Actor John Travolta is set to fly 300 guests of Oprah’s show to Australia from the US for one of the special shows.
