Food lovers are being offered a special treat on Australia’s Kangaroo Island this August.

British travellers looking for a full-on foodie experience this summer are advised to book flights to Australia, as Southern Ocean Lodge is launching a new food safari.

The five-day experience includes touring Kangaroo Island to pick out the best local fresh produce and learn about the journey to your plate.

Highlights include a tour of a sheep’s milk dairy, a visit to Southrock lamb grazing pastures, trips round the KI olive groves and oyster shucking on the American River.

Guests can also enjoy a selection of wine tastings as well as plucking marron and abalone from aquaculture farms.

At the end of it all, there will be cooking demonstrations to show you how the resort’s chefs make the most of this fresh produce.

The food safari at Southern Ocean Lodge will run from August 27th to September 1st and includes five nights’ accommodation with all meals and drinks at this luxury lodge resort.

Prices start at AUD$4,950 (£3,182) per person, including return domestic flights from Adelaide.
