This has caused a “flooded market”, according to Darren McCormick, head of aviation at Travel Counsellors.
He explained: “This has resulted in very competitive fares, which has actually stimulated sales in a difficult market with prices around £450 to get to Australia and £279 to get to New York.”
This may not last forever, however, as airlines are predicted to reduce the number of scheduled flights offered over the next six months.
Figures published on June 24th by OAG revealed that there will be 3.67 fewer flights offered worldwide and 2.76 fewer seats in the next six months than there were in 2008.
The world’s airlines will offer 3.67 per cent fewer flights and 2.76 per cent fewer seats than they did a year ago.
People on holiday in Australia from June 26th to 29th may wish to visit Alice Springs for the curious sight of the Beanie Festival.
The colourful knitted hats will be on display at the Araluen Arts Centre.
