Garuda Indonesia has announced plans to join the SkyTeam alliance in a move that will add a further 30 destinations to the alliance’s portfolio.
“Joining SkyTeam is a long-term development strategy for Garuda Indonesia and for years we have been upgrading our service and actively forging cooperation with SkyTeam member airlines with this objective in mind,” explained Emirsyah Satar, president and chief executive officer of Garuda Airlines.
The carrier, which is the national airline of Indonesia, was recently named as the World’s Most Improved Airline at this year’s Skytrax World Airline Awards.
It currently flies to 19 international destinations including offering flights to Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
