An Australian government initiative is helping to encourage the development of more eco-friendly tourist projects, which could appeal to those taking flights to Australia.
Wilderness Lodge has also received funds to expand its human resources by training local staff in ecotourism operations, reports Solomon Times Online.
Australian High Commission representative William Ewing said the initiative would benefit local communities and lead to sustainable development.
He added: “The Wilderness Lodge is a great example of what can be achieved through cooperation between communities and local commercial enterprises.
“Private sector development is essential for sustainable economic development.”
Each of the new bungalows make use of solar-generated mains-quality power and are made from leaf and exotic hardwood.
