There are many popular destinations in the USA but the holiday spots at New York are very much popular among the travellers to USA. Most of the flyers plan to visit these attractive locations while booking flights to New York especially.

The ‘Big Apple’, as New York is called, makes for a decidedly fulfilling holiday. The destination absolutely bowls over visitors with its tremendous diversity. While New York City alone ensures plenty of dazzling enchantments, one can always head to upstate New York to rejuvenate in relaxed rural kind of atmosphere. There is perhaps no other destination in the world, which has so much variety to offer the visitor. Hop aboard one of the thousands of flights to New York and be sure not to miss out on the following hot spots.

The Statue of Liberty

Only master sculptor Frederic Auguste Bartholdi could have created this piece of brilliance. The Statue of Liberty is that of a robed woman with a lighted torch. This huge statue is sheeted in pure copper and hangs on a steel framework. The flame of the torch is coated in gold leaf. The US received it as gift from France in 1886. The statue stands tall at Liberty Island in New York Harbour and is like a welcoming monument to visitors arriving by sea.

A popular indulgence is to climb the stairs inside the statue and reach its crown. The crown level has observation windows that offer magnificent views of the sea and the land in the distance. The Statue of Liberty is a national monument and aptly represents the city.

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts

The Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts sprawls over an area of about 16.3 acres encircling buildings of the Lincoln Square neighbourhood. The centre houses 12 resident arts organizations with the notable ones being the New York City ballet, The New York City Opera, Metropolitan Opera, and New York Philharmonic. The Lincoln Center is the venue for grand events like the Emmy Award winning Live, Mostly Mozart Festival, Midsummer Night Swing, Lincoln Center Out of Doors, Lincoln Center Festival, Great Performers, and American Songbook. A trip to New York remains incomplete without catching on some performance at the Lincoln Center. Quite understandably, the Lincoln Center is a major motivation prompting people to catch USA flights.

Times Square

Times Square is often called the Crossroads of the World. It is a major Manhattan intersection stretching from West 42nd to West 47th streets. Massive billboards, advertisements, and livewire activity all mix together to make Times Square the pulse of the city. In fact, Times Square symbolises the city and commands an iconic status. It is also the venue of the New Year’s Eve ball drop every year, which attracts overwhelming crowds.

The Brooklyn Bridge

The Brooklyn Bridge overlooks the East River from a height of some 5,989 feet. Inaugurated way back in 1883 as a link between Brooklyn and Manhattan, the bridge is among the oldest suspension bridges across the US and remains a cherished landmark. Brilliant lighting illuminates the intricate hangings and towers of the bridge during the night. There is a pedestrian walkway on the bridge and it has been a big draw among locals and tourists alike.

Central Park

The Central Park is another historical landmark of New York. Sitting in the heart of the city, this huge urban park courts nearly twenty five million visitors every year. The park looks deceptively natural, while the fact is that it was landscaped meticulously. The major crowd pullers of the park are the Central Park Conservatory Garden, the Central Park Zoo, ice skating rinks, large walking paths, and serene lakes and ponds, a huge naturally wooded area, a wildlife sanctuary, and a running track across a reservoir. The Park also has the outdoor Delacorte Theater hosting the ‘Shakespeare in the Park’ summer festivals. Just visiting the Central Park ensures an experience that makes up for most of what you spent on those air tickets to USA.

Empire State Building

This mesmerising piece of architectural brilliance derives its name from the empire state of New York. The American Society of Civil Engineers ranked it among the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. Standing at a height of some 436 feet, it was the tallest and still remains the tallest building within the US. From 1972 to 2001, this place was taken by the North Tower of the World Trade Center. The building has graced many film sets including the blockbuster ‘King Kong’. The 86th and 102nd floors have observation decks offering sweeping views across the city.

Broadway

This wide avenue runs throughout Manhattan and into the Bronx. The Broadway’s main claim to fame is the stretch of area, which is the seat of the theatre industry in the US. Broadway offers a window to New York through fun packed cultural mediums like passionate and often comic drama and super hit musicals. Many hot favourite shows are held at Broadway, like A Chorus Line, Phantom of the Opera, and The Lion King.
