Parents can now treat the kids to a game of nine-pin bowling on their visit to a top Great Barrier Reef resort.

Families catching flights to Australia have been given another reason to book a stay at Hamilton Island on the Great Barrier Reef, with the opening of the resort’s own bowling alley.

In addition to more than 60 other exciting activities, the new nine-pin Kegel bowling centre is ideal for families, with extra-light balls for kids to hurl down the lanes.

Children as young as three years of age are welcomed to try their hand at knocking down the pins, while bowling shoes are not necessary.

At night, the alley is lit up by its seven luminescent lanes, while the pins and balls also glow in the dark. The new centre also features an amusement arcade and there is a fully-licensed bar.

Prices for a game at the Kegel bowling alley start at $39 (£25) per lane for half an hour or $69 for a full hour, and each lane can be shared by up to six people.

Outdoor activities on offer at Hamilton Island resort range from snorkelling and sailing to cuddling koalas and quad biking.
