Travellers keen to get their trip underway can start preparing for holidays to Delhi because the city’s metro route is now available on Google Transit.

Anyone who has booked flights to Delhi but is worried about  negotiating the city’s metro can start to plan ahead with a new tool from Google.

The search engine has added the Delhi metro routes to its Google Transit service, which allows people all over the world to view the network of transport links and plan their journey before they touch down in the country.

It is simple to use, with travellers just needing to access Google Maps, specify a start point and final destination and then wait for the programme to provide the most straight-forward route.

As well as providing helpful information about the station’s location, it will also tell tourists how much they will need to pay for their ticket and how often trains run.

The online company issued a statement about the new service, which said: “As Delhi gears up for the Commonwealth Games in October this year, Google Transit will benefit thousands of visitors who are likely to visit the national capital later this year.”

People who want to watch the sporting event may want to book flights to India in time for its opening ceremony, which will take place on October 3rd, with the competition running until the 14th.
