Emirates sponsors Real Madrid

Emirates have become the latest firm to sponsor Real Madrid, with the deal coming one year on from the launch of the airlines routes from the Spanish capital.

Real Madrid fans may be more tempted to take flights to Dubai organised by Emirates after the airline began a sponsorship deal with the iconic Spanish club.

The carrier already supports a host of other teams worldwide, including Premier League side Arsenal.

Following the announcement, senior vice president of commercial operations for Europe and Russia Federation at Emirates Salem Obaidalla noted that it was one year ago almost to the day when it launched flights to Spanish capital.

“This is a tremendous way for Emirates to mark the first anniversary of the route, while demonstrating our ongoing support to sports and sports followers around the world,” he said.

President of Real Madrid Florentino Perez claimed the two organisations share common principles and suggested the alliance could help reach more supporters.

The Spanish side, runners-up in La Liga last season, will hope the talent of world-class stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Xavi Alonso will allow them to overturn Barcelona’s dominance of the domestic and European game this campaign.
