A new book created by Sanctuary Asia will feature the animals found in Maharashtra.
As part of Wildlife Week, the editorial team of Sanctuary Asia have published a new book that focuses on the wildlife in Maharashtra.
The publication, developed with the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) and the Maharashtra State Forest Department and called Wild Maharashtra, could be a useful guide for those people about to book flights to Mumbai.
There are around 15 sanctuaries in the state and it is home to extremely vibrant ecosystems, with the chance to see a tiger in its natural habitat the obvious highlight of the opportunities available to visitors.
Maharashtra tourism minister Chhagan Bhujbal said: “The state has great potential for wildlife tourism. There are many sanctuaries with unique bio-diversity, flora and fauna. Wildlife tourism will remain one of our focus areas for promotion of tourism.”
The book features the work of some of India’s finest photographers who have captured images from the Western Ghats, the Deccan Plateau and the arid region of Marathwada.
