Lahore Fort
If you wish to witness true historical architecture in the country, Lahore Fort is the place to be. Also known as Shahi Qila (Royal Fort), it has been built, damaged, demolished, rebuilt and restored many times all through its history and is thus, the star attraction of the old walled city of Lahore. Shalamar Bagh
The finest example of Mughal Garden, Shalimar Bagh is a royal complex where visitors can admire the country’s rich history and nature. It is one of the best preserved gardens on earth that is renowned as a major attraction in the country. The huge rectangular shaped gardens have three terraces namely Bestower of Life, Bestower of Goodness and Bestower of Pleasure. There is something magical about these Persian gardens dating back to 1637 AD that makes them one of the best Mughal Gardens in the world. You can combine your visit to Lahore Fort with Shalimar Bagh as both these attractions lie in close vicinity.
Minar-e-Pakistan
Meaning the “Tower of Pakistan”, Minar-e-Pakistan captures attention with its fine blend of Islamic and modern architecture. Located in the heart of Lahore, the tower was completed in the year 1968 in almost eight years and was built to celebrate the day when the Pakistan resolution was passed in 1940. A number of well-planned parks in the surroundings with eight marble fountains on the main access add to the beauty of this historic paradise.
Jahangir’s Tomb
History lovers should not miss out on the fascinating Jahangir’s Tomb while in the city of Lahore. The elaborately decorated tomb was built to honour one of the most powerful emperors of the Mughal Empire and is counted among the world’s best preserved mausoleums from the Mughal era. Badshahi Mosque
The red sandstone Badshahi Mosque is among the top attractions to visit on travel to Lahore. Built in the year 1674 by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb the mosque is the fifth largest in the world. The elegance, design and the sheer scale makes Badshahi Mosque one of Lahore’s best known landmarks that epitomises rich Mughal culture and its grandeur.
