Glittering and energising Hong Kong welcomes all travellers with open arms. It is already a popular tourist destination dotted with enriching gems of the Far East and marvels of futuristic contemporary architecture. Hong Kong is an ideal combination of skyscrapers and natural wonders and offers an excellent option for short trips and weekend getaways. Read on to know about the best attractions to visit and the best things to do on a 48-hour trip to the ‘Pearl of the Orient’ Hong Kong.

An-Interesting-48-Hour-Itinerary-for-Hong-Kong

Day 1:

After breakfast at the hotel visit the magnificent Tian Tan Buddha in Lantau. The Buddha structure here is not very old, yet this attraction is famous for its 34-m bronze statute and the thrilling cable car ride over a tropical forest to reach Tian Tan Buddha. Later, travellers can visit the first Chinese Disneyland theme park also located in Lantau.

For lunch, visit the heart of Hong Kong – the Central District. The place is teeming with world-class restaurants and cheap food stalls. Enjoy authentic Cantonese cuisine here! Visit Duddell’s or Tsim Chai Kee or Mak’s for a bowl full of delicious noodles and king prawn wontons.

Thereafter, spend some time at the Landmark Mall for a good round of shopping. The mall is considered to be one of the most famous shopping destinations across Hong Kong. It is home to big global fashion brands. The glass skywalks that connect different buildings in the malls are also popular attractions. Enjoy breathtaking views of the city from the skywalk.

Lan Kwai Fong, a section of the Central District, is a must-visit due to its famous art galleries and hip nightlife. A favourite place for expats in the city, Lan Kwai Fong is full of clubs, wine bars, pubs, and expat bars.

Enjoy some fantastic meals at any one of its famous restaurants, including Hutong that serves spicy Chinese cuisine; the Red Lantern, which is known for its soft-shell crab and Sichuan chillies; and the innovative Cobo House opened by the famous pastry chef Janice Wong.

Day 2:

On the following day, after breakfast at the hotel, travellers should visit St John’s Cathedral located on Garden Road, Central and the beautiful 19th century Taoist temple Man Mo Temple at Hollywood Road. The latter is a famous and revered temple dedicated to the gods of literature and war.

Later, head to the Tim Ho Wan eating joint located in Kowloon for some delicious Dim Sums. This restaurant is said to be the world’s cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant.

A visit to the city garden, the Hong Kong Park, will help you to relax and enjoy great views of the surrounding city from the top of its 100 ft tower. Stroll along the beautiful garden and also enjoy up to two hours of free Wi-Fi here. Reach Kowloon and visit the Hong Kong Museum of History, which showcases a compelling historical account of this unique territory. Later in the evening, head to the Kowloon waterfront to catch the stunning ‘Symphony of Lights’. It is considered to be the largest permanent light and sound show in the world.

A visit to low-budget Cantonese food stalls is a good way to end a 48-hour visit here. Also, step into Tung Po in North Point for small bowls of garlic-roasted chicken and deep-fried prawns covered with salted duck yolk.
