Celebrate Canada Day 2016 with Fun and Frolic

Travellers planning to visit Canada around 1^st July will be able to witness the grand Canada Day celebrations across the country. Toronto

Travellers will enjoy plenty of festivities and fireworks across the city of Toronto. There will be some spectacular free fireworks celebrations at Mel Lastman Square and Downsview Park. For foodies, there is the huge Toronto Ribfest, hosted by The Rotary Club of Etobicoke in Centennial Park. Family crowds can enjoy certain family-centric entertainment events for free such as magic shows, hay rides, pedal boating and canoe rentals at the The Albion Hills Conservation Area, Caledon. Another free entry Canada Day celebrations with abundant food and music will be held at Harbourfront Centre.

Vancouver

Vancouver celebrates Canada Day with much fanfare mixed with heightened patriotism. Like every year, the city will hold a Canada Day Concert that will be all about flashbacks to Expo 86, with performances by well-known Canadian artists. Some of the artists who will grace the event are Aaron Pritchett, Barney Bentall, Rococode, Mo Kenney and Twin Kennedy. The concert, which will be held at Canada Place, will also feature other attractions such as family-friendly zones with food carts, street hockey areas. Travellers can witness the traditional citizenship ceremony that welcomes 60 new Canadians at the concert.

After enjoying daytime festivities, visitors can make their way to Georgia Street that hosts the free-entry-to-all Canada Day Parade in the evening. The parade displays over 50 entries identifying Canadian values of diversity, multiculturalism and the special connection between all Canadians. The city will also light up the night sky with electrifying fireworks at the Coal Harbour and Dundarave in West Vancouver at around 10:30 pm.

Calgary

The Canadian city of Calgary will celebrate the country’s 149^th birthday in the true Canadian Spirit of pride and revelry with lots of festivities. The festivities here begin early in the morning and continue late into the night. This vibrant city will come alive with many festivities at major attractions. Canada Day festivities are held every year at the Heritage Park, which will host a free pancake breakfast and plenty of fun-filled patriotic activities this year too. Travellers with kids can head to the Calaway Park’s Canada Day Long Weekend, which will feature Calaway Comic Fest for children. The Olympic Plaza is a must-visit destination for travellers visiting Calgary during the Canada Day long weekend. The historic park Olympic Plaza offers a market tour, crafts-making events, history lessons and a popular food truck selling delectable local delicacies.

In true patriotic spirit, the National Music Centre, Studio Bell, will be officially inaugurated on Canada Day. As part of the inauguration programme, Studio Bell will allow free entry to visitors between 10 am and 5 pm.
