British tourists are continuing to take holidays to Thailand, despite recent reports of political unrest in the country, it has been reported.

A spokesperson for the Tourism Authority of Thailand told the Telegraph that any disquiet experienced in the country has been as a result of small-scale political disturbances and that Britons should not be put off going to resorts such as Pattaya and Phuket.
The organisation states that 835,000 people from the UK visited Thailand last year, with this number expected to rise by another five per cent by the end of 2008.
“British travellers are remaining very loyal customers even during the current economic downturn – around two-thirds are repeat visitors,” said the unnamed source.
Earlier this month, Archer Entertainment announced that it is to use Thailand as the set for its new movie Kings of the Sea, the first of ten that will be produced over the next six years to depict the adventures of infamous pirate Blackbeard.
