Spending some time overseas can be a good way to enhance your CV.
Spending time in a foreign country has been advocated as a great way for people to give their CVs a boost.
Stuart Rees Jones, founder and chief executive officer of Camps International, explained that for young people looking for work, having something on their CV which makes them stand out can give them edge.
He explained many employers will look favourably on those who have travelled abroad as it will have given them a range of different experiences.
Planning ways to raise the funds for the trip can also teach essential life skills.
“Stepping out of your comfort zone is an important factor in growing up and living and working in a community away from home is a fantastic experience,” Mr Jones Rees Jones said.
The popularity of South Africa as a gap year destination was recently highlighted by Alice Baines, overseas placement manager with Year Our Group, who said the 2010 World Cup had helped to raise the nation’s profile among young people.
