Travellers passing through Melbourne Airport will have a number of ways to find more information on their trip.

Passengers arriving on flights to Melbourne will be able to try out two new initiatives which are being rolled out by the airport to make their trip more enjoyable.

The terminal is set to offer a new iPhone app, to help travellers who are up to date with their technology, while those who prefer to ask people for assistance will be greeted by a team of volunteers helping out in the arrivals lounge.

While the app will offer a range of options, from real time flight information to maps of the terminals, the volunteers could prove to be more helpful to people who find flying a stressful experience.

Commenting on the programme, Melbourne Airport’s chaplain Major Winton Knop from The Salvation Army said: “Travelling can be stressful for some people and the airport is an emotionally charged place so people really appreciate seeing someone with a friendly face who can assist with their queries.”

Some people taking flights to Melbourne with Virgin Australia could be arriving after enjoying some of the new in-flight entertainment systems which have been installed to some aeroplanes.
