People heading on holiday this summer could end up with more than they bargained for, according to a recent survey.
Price comparison site moneysupermarket.com found that 34 per cent of respondents have had a romantic encounter abroad, with almost one in ten marrying their holiday fling in the end.
Those aged over 60 were the group most likely to do this, along with people in the south-west and East Anglia.
“For all those looking for fun and love in the sun, the chances of a holiday romance look pretty good. It seems the over-60s are hopeless romantics and it’s great to know that you are never too old to find love,” said, Peter Gerrard, spokesperson for moneysupermarket.com.
According to Easier.com recently, 57 per cent of people said they would go one step further and think about getting married abroad, perhaps due to the fact that weddings can cost up to six times less than in the UK.
Anyone wishing to do this could book flights to South Africa.
Couples can choose from big game safaris, rustic mountain huts, world heritage sites, national parks, eco-tourism retreats and beaches for the ceremony and the honeymoon.
