Abu Dhabi is well on course to meet its tourism targets this year

The lure of Abu Dhabi’s splendour is proving enticing to an increasing number of travellers.

New statistics from Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) show that 1.2 million guests stayed in the emirate’s hotels during the first six months of this year alone.

That figure equates to a 14 per cent increase on the visitor numbers in the corresponding period of 2011.

His excellency Mubarak Al Muhairi, director general of TCA Abu Dhabi, said the results were very encouraging and suggests that Abu Dhabi will meet its annual target of 2.3 million guests.

“We are relatively confident of doing this as we look forward to a season ahead packed with major events, including the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and Abu Dhabi Art,” he added.

F1 rolls into the Gulf in early November, while the Art festival begins the following week. The cultural exhibition will bring a unique selection of displays from leading art galleries around the world all under the same roof for the first time.
