Thailand provides a good work-life balance

Thailand has been ranked as the top destination for those without children in a survey over 3,000 expats across the globe.

The 2011 HSBC Expat Explorer Survey covers three main criteria: economics, experience and raising children abroad.

Overall, 3,385 expats from across the world answered questions on life overseas based on 55 criteria and Thailand pipped Saudi Arabia and Singapore in the overall league table – ahead of English-speaking countries such as the US and Canada.

Thailand finished top in the experience category and tenth in the economics section and HSBC said that Thailand provides expats with a “happy medium between work-life balance, increased income and local integration”.

Nearly two thirds of expats in Thailand said their work-life balance had improved since relocating, while 61 per cent said it was easy to integrate into the local community, compared to 58 per cent of expats overall.

The 2012 survey is now open.
