Diving enthusiasts may wish to head to Turtle Island to try a new style of diving on holiday in Thailand.
Those who enjoy getting to grips with nature on a holiday may wish to try their hand at freediving in the Gulf of Thailand.
People taking a holiday in Thailand’s Ko Tao, described by Guyan Mitra of the Times as a “diving mecca”, may wish to take a trip into the water without the heavy diving gear that scuba divers usually wear.
“A rocky isle of chalky-white beaches, surrounded by a rainbow of coral gardens in the middle of the Gulf of Thailand, divers flock to see the whale sharks that often pass through the local waters,” explained Ms Mitra.
Divers are given instruction on how to breathe deeply and to expand their lungs to their full capacity and after a two-day training course, Ms Mitra was able to dive to 20 metres.
Ko Tao is known as Turtle Island and according to KoTaoonline, the destination becomes lively after dark with night spots on the beach and on the mountain tops.
