These people, known as medical tourists, are increasingly opting to travel to South Africa because it can offer cheaper treatment than is available in the UK, as well as allowing patents to combine it with a luxury holiday.

One such patient, Joy Kramel-Cox, had a tummy tuck, a nose job and eyelid surgery and told the Associated Press it was much cheaper than it would have been at home, plus she got chance to see animals in their natural habitat.

“Having your surgery done in South Africa is like killing two birds with one stone. You lose the flab and experience one of the most awesome safari escapades in the world,” she remarked.

The news provider said the Cape winelands and the Kruger National Park are two particularly popular destinations.

Anyone interested in booking flights to South Africa may be interested to know that its three main airports are Johannesburg International Airport, Cape Town International Airport and Durban International Airport.
