Cape Town has seen its most successful holiday season ever with airport arrivals up by 14 per cent.

Cape Town could be more eager than ever before to welcome tourists to the city after it was announced it has seen its most successful summer season to date.

Officials from across the tourism industry in the South African city have declared this year to have been a big success, with a 14 per cent increase on the number of people travelling to the airport recorded.

The Cape Town Chamber of Commerce announced there had been 245,029 arrivals at Cape Town International Airport over the past summer, compared with the 214,607 for the 2010/11 season.

A big increase in the number of visitors coming from Germany and the US has been recorded, while a rise in the amount of travellers coming from the KwaZulu-Natal region of South Africa was also seen.

Cape Town boasts a number of events each year which attract many people to the city, with the 2012 Design Indaba currently taking place.
