Travellers considering taking part in an adventurous activity on their holiday in South Africa or other destinations should ensure they are covered by a travel insurance policy, it has been reported.

Research published today (July 10th) revealed that some 88 per cent of UK travellers have taken part in a hazardous activity whilst abroad, but not everyone had checked to make sure they were covered by their holiday insurance, esure revealed.

Before taking part in an activity that could put travellers at increased risk, it is “crucial” for them to check that they have insurance cover, Mike Pickard, head of travel at the company stated.

“Have an accident without insurance and the medical bills could turn a paradise trip into a nightmare if you’re not properly covered,” he explained.

Some of the adventurous activities on offer on a holiday in South Africa include diving with sharks, paragliding, mountain climbing and scuba diving.
