The USS Gridley has become the latest ship to dock in Goa.
Not surprisingly with its laid-back atmosphere and beautiful coastline of golden beaches and turquoise seas, Goa is carving out a great reputation as a rest and recuperation destination for holidaymakers.
However, it is also sought out by navel crews looking for their own R&R stays.
The USS Gridley became the latest vessel to head to the state when it docked at Mormugao on Thursday (September 13th).
“We’re here for voluntary activities, spend time in the city, enjoy local food and entertainment and meet new friends, learning about the history and culture of this state,” said Rick Kratzer, the ship’s commanding officer told the Times of India.
Former Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) chairman Praveen Agarwal stated two years ago that dock would accommodate more warships by constructing an exclusive berth for them.
Although that has not been completed yet, the current chairman of the MPT has confirmed Goa has received calls for five or six R&R activities so far.
