The Indian Maharaja – Deccan Odyssey has been named Asia’s Leading Luxury Train for the third year in a row.
It is the third consecutive year that the train has won the prestigious award.
The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation released a statement that coincided with the triumph, stating: “It had always been a close contest as the other contenders in the race were equally powerful.”
According to the Times of India, the Odyssey beat the likes of the Eastern & Oriental Express, Palace on Wheels, The Golden Chariot Train and The Viceroy of India this year.
Anyone booking flights to Mumbai has the option of getting on the week-long rail tour.
The trip takes in the sights of the city, as well as those in Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Sawai, Madhopur, Udaipur and Aurangabad, with passengers treated to luxurious surroundings that include a library, bar, Ayurvedic massage centre, steam bath, gymnasium and beauty parlour.
