A luxurious Indian hotel has reopened after undergoing extensive renovation work

Luxury hotel the Taj Mahal Palace has re-opened its palace wing following a two-year restoration. The hotel, which is member of prestigious global accommodation group The Leading Hotels of the World, is an iconic building in Mumbai and first opened its doors to the most discerning guests back in 1903.

Since then, it has hosted princes, maharajas, presidents and world leaders, the hotel group said.

“It offers guests an unforgettable experience that encapsulates a slice of history, legend and romance,” it commented.

The makeover of the Palace wing, which is the hotel’s most luxurious spot, sees the rooms there fitted with interactive multimedia and many of the suites now boast original art on the walls.

Guests can also relax in the Palace Lounge, where they can enjoy afternoon tea and cocktails before being taken to the airport by private Jaguar or Bentley.

Those taking cheap flights to India keen on visiting the hotel should make sure they take time to see its namesake, the Taj Mahal temple, one of the seven original wonders of the world.
