In what could be very good news for foreigners booking flights for an enriching travel experience of India, the authorities in the country’s popular western province of Maharashtra plan to establish 300 electronic kiosks at different tourist destinations across the western state. Offering a convenient access to information, these booths promise to assist local and foreign vacationers who wish be know a place better after booking airline tickets and landing in India.
As per reports, the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation will set up these informational booths at government offices, railway stations and airports. The first of such electronic facility was put up at Nariman Point.
Tourists who disembark from India bound flights and visit Maharashtra would find that these kiosks, being touch-screen, are highly user-friendly and supply information about attractions of the state in English as well as the local language. Moreover, to the delight of leisure vacationers having hands around tickets on India flights, it also allows booking of MTDC resorts and railway tickets.
To provide reliable info to holiday makers booking Mumbai bound flights, the international airport at the city will soon have this facility, said an official from the MTDC.
The MTDC also runs the Deccan Odyssey luxury train. Recently, the corporation organised a special 7-day tour that allowed travellers a discount on tickets.
