Money will be spent to ensure tourists in Agra have an even more memorable experience.

Agra is already one of India’s most popular tourist destinations as it is home to the stunning Taj Mahal.

The monument was built over two decades in the 17th century by Shah Jahan and its serene atmosphere and perfect symmetry have made it one of the Wonders of the World and a Unesco World Heritage site.

Accessibility to the Taj was recently improved by the construction of the Yamuna Expressway, which cut down the travelling time from Delhi by 50 per cent.

And now the city of is set for further improvements.

Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has stated that Rs 140 crore (£15.6 million) will be given to the Tajganj project to develop world-class amenities for tourists in the city.

The funds will be used to improve infrastructure around the Wonder as well as to develop opportunities to promote Agra’s unique atmosphere to visitors.
