Discover the oldest Ancient Wonder of the World at Giza in Egypt.
No trip to Egypt would be truly complete, without taking a trip to the Giza Plateau.
Situated just outside of Cairo, this esplanade is the home to the three pyramids at the at the Giza necropolis. The most famous of these, the Great Pyramid of Giza, is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Known as Khufu’s Pyramid, the overwhelming structure is also the only one that is still relatively intact. It is accompanied by two smaller – but almost equally imposing pyramids – Khafre and Menkaure. Needless to say, they cast a long shadow in the evening sun!
The Egypt Tourism Authority notes that just to the east are three 20m piles of rubble, where the Pharaoh Khufu’s wives and sisters are entombed.
While exploring the area, visitors will also be able to enjoy a sound and light show, as well as taking a camel ride in the surrounding desert sands.
