A pair of new attractions are soon to open their doors in Dubai.

A new art museum and opera house are being planned for Dubai, it has been announced.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice-president of the United Arab Emirates and Prime Minister of Dubai, stated that work was to begin on the Dubai Modern Art Museum and Opera House District.

The centre is being constructed with the view of making Dubai the cultural hub of the region and will boost the 50 plus art galleries that are already found there.

“Having demonstrated our credentials in hosting world-class cultural events, UAE has established itself as a thriving destination for culture and the arts,” Sheik Mohammed said.

He added that it is hoped the site will help to encourage local artists and foster international interest.

Dubai may also soon see more green spaces being planned around some of its most famous streets, as a hi-tech garden has been suggested for the Shaikh Zayed Road.
