Dubai has been named as the world’s leading shopping destination, according to a new survey.
The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce (DTCM) has revealed that shoppers in Arab countries believe the state has a wide choice of retailers and therefore it could appeal to those taking flights to Dubai.
Eyad Ali Abdul Rahman, executive director media relation division and business development with DTCM, explained that Dubai offers a unique shopping experience.
He added: “Dubai’s impressive collection of international brands and retail outlets rival those of any other shopping city in the world – a key attribute that gives the emirate a distinctive edge as the best shopping destination in the Arab world.”
The survey conducted by Yahoo! Maktoob Research involved 2,900 people from a number of Arab counties. Overall, 32 per cent of respondents named Dubai as the best shopping venue followed by 13 per cent opting for Paris and Beijing, Istanbul and London obtaining five per cent.
Dubai’s shopping festival is set to start on January 20th and is set to involve large number of the state’s leading retailers.
