A beach on the Whitsundays in Australia has been votest the world’s most eco friendly, which could interest those taking cheap flights to Australia.

Whithaven Beach in the Whitsundays, Australia, has been voted the world’s number one eco friendly beach.According to CNN.com the beach, which is popular with surfers and backpackers, is “breathtaking” and in the past has won a number of awards, including being voted the cleanest beach in Queensland. It has also scooped national awards for the eco measures that are in place there as well as resource recovery, said the source.

Visitors who want to check out the “white sparking” beach could get cheap flights to Australia and include the destination on a tour of the country.

Commenting on the win, Tourism Whitsundays chief executive officer Peter O’Reilly said he was very proud of the efforts of locals and tour operators, as well as the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and the Whitsunday Regional Council, in keeping the beach in great condition.

“This is a huge honour and one which everyone in the Whitsundays – and Australia – should be proud of,” Mr O’Reilly said.
