The Central Sydney YHA has been named as one of the top places to stay in the whole of Oceania.

are likely to be heartened by the news that the Sydney Central YHA has been voted as one the finest hostels in the whole of Oceania.

The backpacker hub, which is located directly opposite the city’s main train station and is within walking distance of the iconic harbour, was named as the second best in the whole continent by Hostelworld.com.

At the same time, the nearby Wake Up! hostel was named in the top three large hostels in the world at the website’s annual ‘Hoscars’ awards, which are handed out on the back of travellers’ feedback.

As well as its central location, which makes it ideal for those arriving on flights to Australia and keen to get some rest before checking out the city, the Sydney Central YHA also boasts a heated swimming pool, sauna, self-catering kitchens and its own restaurant and bistro.

Furthermore, the hostel’s staff also run regular sight-seeing tours and pub crawls around Australia’s largest city.

As well as its recognition at the Hoscars, the Sydney Central YHA scooped a gold medal at the 2009 New South Wales Tourism Awards.
