Anyone going on holidays to Melbourne soon may be interested to know of a new tourist attraction which is to open in the city.

The Southern Star Observation Wheel is to open on November 28th and will offer people the chance to see panoramic views of the city and up to 25 miles beyond.

Similar to London’s famous Eye, it will be 120 metres high and will accommodate 21 pods, which will each hold 20 people.

It will be open 365 days a year, allowing visitors to benefit from it during all seasons and will have spectacular light shows at night, Melbourne’s tourist officials have said.

The wheel is expected to attract 1.5 million people within the first 12 months of it opening.

In other Melbourne news, it was recently reported that Gordon Ramsay is to open a new branch of his restaurant, Maze, within the city’s Crown Casino when it is completed in 2010, according to the Herald News.
