Anyone heading to Australia later this year could be pleased to hear about one travel journalist’s high opinion of the country.

People who have booked flights to Australia may be unsure of what to expect when they arrive down under but one travel journalist’s recent experiences should get them excited.

Eleanor Goggin recently visited the country and commented that a trip to Australia is “everything you could wish for”.

Detailing her adventures in the Irish Independent, she described snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef, visiting the world’s oldest rainforest and sampling local foods such as crocodile and kangaroo meat.

Summing up her holiday, Ms Goggin said: “The people are wonderful, the atmosphere is relaxed and the scenery is breathtaking.”

The Australian Tourism Board has run a number of campaigns to encourage British tourists to make the journey down under.

Most recently, Tourism Western Australia launched its Extraordinary Taxi Ride initiative, which will see a number of travellers taking part in a nine-week taxi journey around some of the state’s most spectacular attractions.
