People thinking of popping the question to their loved one on

holidays to Australia may want to consider the setting for their proposal carefully.

A recent survey carried out by sunshine.co.uk revealed that the Great Barrier Reef is an ideal setting to ask the words “Will you marry me?”

More than 1,000 single women were polled to find the best locations for a proposal.

Australia’s Great Barrier Reef was chosen as a dream location for the romantic gesture by 54 per cent of respondents.

Other popular destinations included by the pyramids in Cairo, Egypt, Time Square in New York and on a gondola in Venice.

Chris Brown, co-founder of sunshine.co.uk, commented: “The Great Barrier Reef is definitely an interesting one, perhaps underwater proposals are set to increase!”
