Hobart State Cinema in Tasmania is the latest venue to play host to the Flickerfest International Short Film Festival.

Australian short film festival, Flickerfest has arrived in Tasmania today (March 17th), as part of a national tour, making an ideal stop-off for film lovers planning on booking flights to Australia.

The Flickerfest International Short Film Festival, to give it its full title, is the country’s premier event for short film fans and it has been officially recognised as a qualifying event for the Best Short film and Best Animation Oscars.

This year’s festival started on January 7th at Sydney’s Bondi Beach Pavilion and is in the middle of a two-month nationwide tour, which ends in the capital of Canberra on March 27th.

Tasmania’s Hobart State Cinema will play host to the festival for two days, and as well as Australian short films, there will be entries from as far afield as Romania, Thailand and Brazil.

Seven Australian films and seven international films will be screened over the two days, including a mix of animation, comedy and drama.
