Byron Bay has been named as one of the best holiday destinations in the world for people looking to ride the waves.
National Geographic has named the Aussie favourite as one of the World’s Best 20 Surf Towns, saying that it was especially appealing to families.
To formulate the list the adjudicators measured each surf destinations not only on wave quality, but the complete experience that was on offer in the surrounding area.
National Geographic states that “in an entire continent of surf towns, Byron Bay stands out as one of the spiritual and historical homes of surfing”.
The Pass – the area’s main wave – is a classic right-hand point break that is suitable for beginners and experts alike.
When not in a wet suit, visitors to Byron Bay can find plenty to do, as there is no shortage of live music or great food available by the beach.
