Australia is one of the top destinations to visit in the world, claims a new study.
Japan was also listed a popular destination in the survey that was taken by a number of holidaymakers and gap year travellers. Other top holiday spots included China, Singapore and Thailand.
Ross Jackson, head of cross-border business in Asia Pacific at Visa, explained because scenery, food and affordability are the “predominant factors in what motivates people to pick a destination, the all round tourism products in these destinations put them high on any traveller’s list”.
The online poll of 6,714 travellers discovered that 17 per cent named Australia as the most likely destination for their next Asia Pacific holiday, while 16 per cent named Japan and nine per cent voted for China.
Qantas recently announced plans to expand its flights to Australia as part of the airline’s long-term growth plan.
