Travellers do not have to spend a month in Australia just to enjoy what the country has to offer.

More travellers could be planning to book flights to Australia in the coming months after one expert suggested it could be a great place to enjoy holidays.

Offering his advice to holidaymakers, Rodney Harrex, general manager for the UK and Northern Europe at Tourism Australia, explained that there is a misconception people will need to spend around a month in the country to get a taste of it.

He explained instead that it is possible to have a great holiday there by staying for just two weeks.

“Australia offers unique holiday experiences in stunning surrounds, and as long as they don’t try and pack too much in to their itinerary, holidaymakers will have a fantastic time,” Mr Harrex said.

Some people could be planning to take flights to Australia in order to see the international cycling event the Santos Tour Down Under, which begins in the south of the country on January 15th 2012.
