Travellers looking for holidays to Australia could be interested to know that Lance Armstrong will be returning to the country to compete in the Santos Tour Down Under at the start of 2010.

Lance Armstrong will be heading to Australia to take part in the Santos Tour Down Under in January 2010, those planning holidays to Australia may be interested to hear.

Armstrong will appear with his new team, Team Radio Shack, for the first time on the tour, which takes place in South Australia.

The Santos Tour Down Under is the only ProTour event to take place outside of Europe. The 2009 event saw nearly three quarters of a million people turn out to support the cyclists.

An even bigger crowd is expected to be attracted to the up-coming tour, which will take place from 17th to 24th January 2010.

Neil Saunders, marketing manager for the South Australian Tourism Commission in the UK, said: “The race is now clearly established on the world stage.”

He continued: “This year’s event saw tens of thousands of visitors travel to South Australia from interstate and overseas.”

Visitors to South Australia can also enjoy a trip to one of the region’s many wineries or explore Adelaide, the state’s capital city.
