Travellers booking flights to Thailand or other holiday destinations have been advised to shop around to avoid paying unnecessary charges.
Holidaymakers booking flights to Thailand or other destinations around the world have been advised to compare prices in order to make sure they are getting the best deal.
Which? Holiday magazine has told consumers to thoroughly check all their options as many airlines are now charging extra supplements, such as charges for hold luggage, which used to be free.
A spokesperson from the publication said: “You really need to shop around and look at the prices very carefully before you book. While you are booking, check you are not agreeing to pay extra charges.”
Airlines are increasingly looking to boost their income through ancillary revenue (AR) as many are dealing with losses resulting from the global financial crisis.
Almost two-thirds (63 per cent) of airlines already operate an AR strategy, while 61 per cent currently without an AR policy said they were intending to implement one over the next six months, according to a report released by Collison Latitude earlier this month.
