People booking flights to Thailand and other foreign countries can take small steps to make their holiday greener, it has been claimed.
“Simple steps will go a long way,” she stated. Before leaving home, there are things that holidaymakers can do, such as ensuring that all the lights and appliances are switched off in their homes.
Ms Ezaki noted that taking a similar approach to hotel facilities is also good, such as making sure that air conditioning is not left on all day.
“Wherever possible, travel slow – walk, bike or take local public transportation,” she advised.
In order to encourage other travellers to do the same things, she urged people to talk about how they had made their break more sustainable.
According to Travelocity, tourists are already beginning to think about the environment when booking their holidays.
Earlier this month the organisation revealed that bookings for green hotels were 65 per cent higher than for their less environmentally-friendly counterparts.
